RIDE THE COURSES IN STYLE WITH A HARLEY DAVIDSON GOLF CART!

Harley Davidson International, the famous and celebrated motorcycle maker has had most of a century in cycle production. They have also produced many custom and standard golf carts in golf’s past; albeit with less fanfare and notoriety than is associated with its high profile, legendary motorcycle manufacturing business. The Harley Davidson Company got into the production of highly powered engines in the early part of the twentieth century, and has continued to produce various engines and motors up to the present. These golf carts have the actual body of what we recognize as a golf cart, but have the engine of what is really a Harley Davidson motorcycle and are so highly thought of among dedicated golfers that the older models have become collectors’ items, although production of these extraordinary carts has continued in some form or another up to the present day!

There is an extensive amount of Harley Davidson and Columbia Par car information available on the Internet, including magnificent photographs, parts for sale, anecdotes, and much more! If you are looking for parts to purchase, information on how to authenticate your old golf cart, or even entire vintage carts to collect, there is an amazing amount of information available for the enthusiast! There are parts sellers, collectors and interesting facts galore. A few of the individuals listed even have their own interesting web pages and encourage visitors to contact them.

Aside from experiencing the pleasure of learning facts about the vintage Harley Davidson golf carts, or driving a classic golf cart around the golf “links” in pursuit of a small round ball, modern golf courses are designed for the likes of golf carts. Although many purist golfers still prefer to walk the courses, most private courses have paved cart paths that cart drivers follow from hole to hole and fairway to fairway. It is not uncommon, however, to have to leave the paved paths and to be required to drive off the paved paths to reach a wayward golf ball or even a wayward human golfer who has become overheated!

Golf carts are usually the property of the golf course or country club where they are housed. While it is not overly common for individuals to own their own golf carts, it is a luxury of the wealthier and more avid players to have a personal golf cart at their beck and call. The usual manner of using one of the carts at a course is to reserve one of the carts owned by the course in advance; the courses do not have as many carts as they have golfer members!

The primary mode of navigating a golf course still remains walking the course; it is the way the game was originally designed and still remains a popular means of getting around the course and getting exercise at the same time. The major professional tournaments generally require the players to walk; it is usually one of the stated rules of the competition and may only be violated by a tournament participant after obtaining permission from the PGA, or Professional Golfers

Association. Thus, the use of golf carts is viewed as a luxury by the golfing world.

The style of the standard golf cart has changed little through the decades. The common style is to have three wheels; that style is especially efficient on curvy cart paths. There is generally a large space at the rear of the cart for golf bags and equipment. These versatile carts are open-air vehicles with easy access for the golfers and which permits simple availability of storage as well. As the cart evolved, four-wheeled carts came into existence but never fully replaced the standard three wheeled construction. The early Harley Davidson models of golf carts used steering handles as opposed to steering wheels to enable the driver to drive the cart. Later, the use of regular steering wheels was substituted as a matter of convenience and safety.

In addition to being a perfect method of traveling the golf course while enjoying your game due to their ease of access, simplicity of driving and quick availability of golf clubs and equipment, these super vehicles have found additional innovative uses wherever simple motorized travel is desired or necessary. This style of cart is used by security personnel covering the perimeter of a large property such as a mall, office park, school or large church or managing a vast parking lot. They are often used in tour scenarios when comfortable, efficient transportation is needed. And, they are occasionally used as escort vehicles when needed.

Additional uses are found at airports while transporting passengers between terminals or through parking areas, or local fairs and exhibitions, transporting dignitaries or crowd control personnel. Their uses are expanded by imaginative people looking for solutions, and curbed only when the imaginations run out.

Powered by a motorized genuine Harley engine similar to those that power the famous motorcycles, these Harley Davidson golf carts are built with two different types of engines and battery styles. This amount of power is needed, as many golf courses incorporate hilly terrain; the power is also necessary if the cart must travel in territory known as “the rough,’ which is the portion of the course off to the sides of the fairways and is not as closely mown by the giant golf course tractors.

The golf cart component of Harley Davidson was sold to Columbia Par car in the 1960’s. Columbia Par car was started in 1963 handle the growing Harley Davidson golf cart business. This company has been responsible for producing a large number of the carts in use today.

Harley Davidson carts were all imprinted with a serial number, which can be found either on a tag on the left rear wheel or behind the batteries in the cart’s battery bank. The Harley Davidson carts are considered as collectors’ items, are quite expensive, and all genuine Harley carts can be verified by the presence of the serial number.

Harley Davidson carts are still widely available, from the “Classic”—the name given to the old fashioned three-wheeled models which became popular in the 1960’s and has retained its popularity to the present day, to the newer models, both 3- and 4-wheeled carts. The original serviceable back style of the cart continued to be popular through the 1990’s, and golf carts may be found which look just like their antique predecessors.

The great use of golf carts like the ones made popular by the Harley Davidson company have literally changed the face of golf by allowing persons who cannot walk the entire length of a golf course to still enjoy the game. While carts are still not allowed in use during PGA tournaments, they are indispensible during casual play among friends.

Golfers and other people using these versatile carts through the years and across all professions and usage types have helped preserve the legacy of the Harley Davidson carts by collecting the older models and continuing to use and display this famous line of golf carts into our new century. It is certainly true that the look of the game of golf would not be the same with the three-wheeled Classics on the course! Whether you are a motorcycle fan or not, the Harley Davidson golf cart collection is something any cart owner would be proud to own! If you are looking to make a statement on the golf course, this is no doubt the way to go.

Harley Davidson golf carts

Harley Davidson International is a motor company. The timeline of the company’s history begins from as early as the 1900s, specifically 1903. The company started with an engine design of a bicycle made by William Harley.
Several years for the golf carts were characterized by dynamism in the models of the golf carts available. Colombia Par car which offer Harley Davidson golf carts started in 1963. This company was established by the same people that created motorcycles. Some write-ups said that the obvious reason for creating golf carts aside from motorcycles was the participation of Davidson with Harley in this business enterprise. Even though there has been a lot of new and state of the art golf arts, the original model was retained. This original model was also called, “Classic”. It is the style with the deep well body of which lift back rear body is the best known. The original of the Harley Davidson golf carts only had three wheels. However, for slight changes, the models with four wheels also came. It is noteworthy that during the 60s and the 70s, the most familiar golf cart was the three wheeled cart. Early Harley Davidson golf carts had steering handles. The rear body design of the “Classic” model had been popular up to the 90s. Although they have different number of wheels, some have four while others only have three, they were both equipped with a 250cc, 2 cycle gas engine or with a 36 volt electric motor powered by six volt batteries.
Even if golf carts do not travel along the streets for transportation purposes, it is still imperative that they have serial numbers for identification. The golf car vehicle identification number can be found on the metal tag on the left rear tire. Other’s tags can be found behind the batteries in the battery bank cavity. Usually, Harley Davidson golf carts are tagged as vintage golf carts. Thus, these golf carts are collectors’ item and have relatively expensive prices. If one is a genuine golfer who really loves golf passionately, that person is supposedly desiring to have a Harvey Davidson as his own. This type of golf cart is one thing every golfer would wish to have. This product is very much worthy of an investment that one would not have any second thought of buying it.
Harley Davidson got sold to American machine and Foundry Company in 1969. It was proven to be an effective move for quite a while until the company was sold to Colombia Par Car which is the name of the company t press time. If one wishes to have the original Harley Davidson golf carts, he should make sure that the cart is legitimate and have the car checked by a certified technician.
